BROWSER WARS REVISITED

... AGAIN

It's bad news when go to look at your own

website and things don't work properly.

Recently it was embedded videos.

Brave browser usually played them

(but not always)

Comodo dragon, hardly ever.

They worked in firefox and edge,

but I gave up on browsers like those

many years ago, when they started

showing me adverts for obscure

punk bands I'd been looking at 5 days earlier

I want no part of the corporate internet.

I'm not interested in social media

and Ai can go to hell.

I want a browser that can help me

search little known archives

and independent sites like this.

I've been trying out the LibreWolf browser

this week and all seems to be going well.

It plays embedded videos.

Okay ... belt and braces ...

I finally got down to learning some new

programs and updating this blog.

Older pages were made with a web editor I got free

with a magazine back in 2005 (punk DIY, innit)

I always knew this cultural scrapbook probably

looked a bit odd on other devices,

but call me warped ...

I always got a big kick seeing sites made by

old punks and festival bands from the 70s & 80s

- ugly pages filled with text in primary colours

and bad graphics from the early 90s.

They were the same as me -

do it cheap, but do it.

Publish and be damned.

Check out the LibreWolf browser below

P.s: Updating the older pages would be

an act of total madness.

So I'll probably do it -

slowly, starting with the videos first ...

LIFE ON EARTH

AND HOW IT RECOVERED FROM THE FIRST MASS EXTINCTION

... For the next time someone tries to justify
their selfish, destructive behaviour by
blaming it on evolution ...
"human nature, innit - dog eat dog" (?!)
... simply turn to them and yell "endosymbiosis !"

Another good 'Sunday morning' vid ... and I actually learned something
